Why is my online store's conversion rate still low?

I am reaching out to seek insights and expertise regarding an issue we’ve been experiencing with our online store, MaternityDresses.com. Despite consistent efforts over the past three months, we are facing a persistent challenge with our conversion rate.

Quick Stats:

  • Time Frame: Last 7 days
  • Total Sessions: 2,421
  • Conversions: 4
  • Conversion Rate: 0.17%

We’ve employed various strategies to understand and solve this, including optimizing our product pages, adjusting pricing, implementing marketing strategies, and enhancing user experience, but the conversion rate remains poor.

Help?

Hi @SERPs

You got a nice one.

You can try to add buy more save more function so it can help you increase average order value

You can try to enable product reviews for your products may it can help you increase conversation rate

Your product pages are not optimized for conversion. You need:

  • value proposition
  • benefit-driven statements
  • social proof (product reviews and testimonials)
  • strong call to action
  • urgency and scarcity
  • trust seals
  • three-step journey
  • FAQ section

Can you share an example of a site doing all of that well?

Average conversion rates for Shopify stores are 2.8% of daily traffic. We
are 16x less than that. Doesn’t that mean there’s a problem?

Here’s an example of a high-converting product page I built:

You can see a video version on my website

It is sale season for now and you got 10x competitors, I guess this is one of point cause your CR down.

What do you mean 10x competitors. Can you provide some tangible insights and recommendations here.

Hi SERPs,

This is Amee from Gojiberry - Shopify Survey & Feedback App.

I took a look at your store and think that your store looks wonderful! It looks professional and inviting. Here are a few things I think might help with increasing conversion rate:

  1. Product reviews. Each of your products doesn’t seem to have any testimonials so far, it would be good to have a review section (and get a few of your customers to write a few reviews for your best sellers) This helps promote more consumer trust and confidence.
  2. Showcasing detail pictures. When purchasing garments, the consumers are not just looking for how the garment looks on the model, but it would be nice to give some information about the touch and feel. A very closeup of the garment showing texture might help your customer imagine what it would be like to touch the cloth.
  3. Call to action button. Your home page currently showcases many products, which is great! It would be nice to have an add-to-cart button or any call to-action button underneath each product.
  4. Videos (might be a lot of work). Would be good to consider a cat-walk video of the model in addition to pictures, This helps customers imagine how the dresses flow as they walk.
  5. Ask your customers! Since you have already had at least 4 conversions, did you ask where your converting customers are coming from? You can easily do so with a post-purchase survey app, and reward your customers with coupons / points to keep them coming back again. Once you find out your strongest marketing channel, focus more effort and money on that.
  6. Make sure your marketing is reaching the most relevant audience! Quality of traffic determines your conversion rate! It is possible that people are clicking on your site because they are looking for dresses, but not maternity dresses? Would be good to check Google Analytics about how long people tend to stay on your site, you might be able to discover the reason for low conversion rate there.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Well, here are some tips for you:

  1. Value Proposition: Identify what the customers really need, and offer them the product to fulfill that need to create value for the customers. You need to show how your product is the most unique in the market to influence customers to choose your product over the competitors.
  2. Social Proof: Add social proof to the website by adding the reviews and testimonials of other customers to ensure that the website is genuine and sells quality products.
  3. Website Security: No one wants to browse the website or enter personal information on the website that is unsecured. Thus, acquire an SSL certificate to ensure that the data is shared and encrypted through Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, which helps in maintaining the security of the customer information.
  4. FAQs Section: Having an FAQs section can help in resolving the most common queries of the customers on the website, and ensuring that they do not have any ambiguity regarding the product at the time of purchase.
  5. Live Chat: Adding a live chat option on the website helps in resolving customer queries in real-time; thus, enhancing the overall customer experience on the website. This helps in encouraging the customers to complete the purchase.
  6. Streamline Checkout Process: Complicated checkout processes cause frustration among potential customers, and compel them to leave the website immediately; thus, ensure the streamlining of the checkout process, by making it a one-page checkout. Also, add multiple payment options and discount offers/free shipping to ensure that the customers feel satisfied while purchasing the products.

Hope it helps!
