I am at the end of my rope with shopify. For the second time in a row I have traveled to an event and spent thousands of dollars and can’t run any transactions.
1- First time this happened I was at a major convention center in Miami. The Wifi was not encrypted so I had to use my phone as a hot spot except the convention walls were a thick cement and I had no cell phone service. I lost over $10,000 in sales because I could not connect. The reality is that not every place has encrypted wifi or a good cell signal.
2- I fly to another event. I update the POS before I fly do all the major updates and get to my hotel. I get to my hotel to run some test transactions and the POS GO has yet another update. Problem is that my hotel, a Hilton and major hotel chain has no encrypted Wifi - so here we are again! I tried to hot spot in on my phone to do this updates, but I must not have had the bandwith. ATT, unlimited data, and 5 bars on my phone, and 25% into each update the POS Go crashed and said it had to restart the update. Here I am in a strange city, I have to start selling tomorrow AM and I have no systems that work. I have no idea where to find encrypted wifi. I tried to set up the POS Shopify APP on my phone but those transactions also won’t go through because I don’t have encrypted wifi or a tap and chip. Again- I will lose over $10,000. I also am expected to sell and deliver for my clients who contractually have a profit share. Shopify- you need to get it together. You owe me probably 20k in damages at this point because your products don’t work! Yet you do nothing!
