Why is my purchased domain name not working?

Hi Shopify,

I purchased a Domain name from you called www.battastack.com it was working fine until now.

Every time I attempt to open the URL I am shown this page

can someone please help resolve this issue that I am having.

I have seen your problem, it seems that your domain is not at the correct address, go to Online Store > Domains to see the status of Domains, Does the domain say Connected, Not Connected, or Action Required?

If it say’s Not Connected, you’ll want to make sure your DNS settings are pointed to Shopify. If you’ve purchased your domain through a third party, then you need to edit the following DNS settings:

Your A record should point to Shopify’s IP address, which is 23.227.38.65

Your www CNAME record should point to shops.myshopify.com

If the domain display Action Required, click on it and follow the instructions provided, normally it will involve email verification, go ahead and resend the email and follow the prompts in said email.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot of what happens when you try to access your domain. I can confirm the same behaviour on my side too.

You mentioned that you purchased the domain on Shopify and it was working fine until recently - can you confirm when you purchased the domain? Did you recently make any changes to the DNS settings which might explain why it stopped working?

The title of your post mentions ‘Action Required’ - can you confirm if you see this beside the domain in your Shopify admin? You can navigate to Settings > Domains and check for any messages there.

If the domain section does indeed say Action required, then as @PageFly-Richard has kindly mentioned the issue will most likely be verification and you will need to verify the domain to be able to use it. If you have not received a domain verification email, then you should be able to resend the email yourself through your Shopify domain settings page.

It’s important to make sure that the registrar email address doesn’t use the same domain you are verifying. For example www.battastack.com should not be using something like info@battastack.com as the registrar contact email, as it will not work.

We have looked into your issue and come up with the below solution.

  • Go to the Settings section of your Shopify Admin.
  • Check the current status of your domain.
  • If it status shown is “Not connected” or "Action required”
  • Check the current settings of your domain to fix the issue.
  • If you are using a third-party domain
  • Login in to your domain provider’s website
  • Update the A Record and CNAME Record
  • Delete the existing A Record
  • It will take usually 48 hours for domain verification.
