Why is my sale badge not showing correct percentage off in EU and Japan?

Hi All,

We are experiencing an issue on our Shopify store where the percentage off display is not functioning correctly in the European Union (EU) and Japan (JP) when changing the currency, while it works fine in other countries.

We have reviewed our settings and configurations but have been unable to identify the cause. If anyone has encountered a similar problem or has suggestions on how to resolve it, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Hello @Olivia_J_1 !

Could you tell me a little bit more about where these percentages came from - is this from an app, or did you have it custom coded?

Let me know which app this may have been, and I can guide you to the contact of the app developers - who will best be able to advise on what to do here.

It sounds like the currency change may be in some way interfering with the app, but it’s worth investigating anyway.

I wasn’t able to look at your store using the password, but from the screenshot you shared your products look lovely!

Do you have an About us page to tell the customers a little bit more about your business?

When it comes to selling jewellery, your customers will often look for a business that has something unique to offer, for example the personality behind the store where they purchase from. Getting a bit of backstory for a jewellery store adds to the romantic feeling of purchasing jewellery for someone, or even for yourself!

Hi Luna, thank you for your message. The percentage is derived from custom coding. Currently, I don’t have any specific app for managing currency conversion. However, I have removed the markets for Japan (JP) and Europe (EU) because the shipping methods available were limited. As a result, this issue is no longer visible.

I also wanted to let you know that I do have an “About Us” page on the website. Thank you for your advice on how I can further enhance the website. I appreciate your suggestions.

I am glad to hear that this worked for you!

In future, if you run into additional issues with your custom code, you could look into hiring a Shopify Expert here - as it might be helpful if you don’t want to remove a certain feature that interferes with it, but rather find another workaround.
