SHOPIFY IS NOT RESPONDING AND NOT HELPING

Hi, @kenzymohamed .

Thank you for reaching out! I’m sorry to hear you are having issues purchasing a domain.

Did you try looking for this domain on a different browser or device? Your system may need a new connection to show that the domain is available. If you still see that it is unavailable, someone may have purchased it in that short amount of time.

Please let me know if this works and if you have further questions! I would love to learn more about your business. What type of products do you sell?

Talk soon,

I get the same message on my iPhone using both Safari and chrome, on 2 different pcs, cleared history and cache. Tried Edge and Chrome. Same problem.

Hi, @krisendaallen .

Thank you for your reply and for trying those local troubleshooting steps in hopes that the domain you wanted shows as available. It sounds like that domain has been purchased if it is showing as unavailable on every device and browser. Are you able to find a similar domain name that you like and suits your business?

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

There is no way it was purchased when I am the one who purchased it years ago! I just need to pay the balance for the shopify bill and it seems impossible to get anywhere. I am moving my site somewhere else and I need the domain released. I am beyond livid. My store brought it up to $25,000 in sales a month and had over 10,000 customers. The zero help i am getting from Shopify is not acceptable.

Hi, @krisendaallen

My name is Rein, just going to reply as my colleague Emily is out of the office at the moment.

With Domains purchased, they are typically purchased on a yearly cycle and as such if your Shopify Subscription was not active at the time there is a chance that the domain was released as there was no active billing set up to cover its costs at renewal time.

That being said, I see you mentioned that this is not likely the case and that you do still own the domain and that it is likely just attached to your old Shopify store and needs to be released in order to transfer it to the new store you have built elsewhere, is that correct?

If you no longer want a third-party domain associated with your Shopify store, then you can remove it from your Shopify admin.

Steps:1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.

  1. In the Third-party domains section, select the domain that you want to remove.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If your account is on the Basic Shopify plan, then click Remove.
    • If your account is on the Shopify, Advanced Shopify, or Shopify Plus plan, then click Manage > Remove.
  3. Click Remove again to confirm.

After you remove a third-party domain, you can change your DNS settings in your domain provider account to point it to another website.

If this domain is a Shopify domain, and it is still owned by yourself and attached to a store, then you can get this released by contacting our live support on our help center here.

Once released, you will be free to transfer the ownership of this domain to another host, which you can do so with the advisor on the chat/call or you can follow this guide here to accomplish this.

If you have any questions, or indeed if you are at a specific point in the process and are curious about how best to proceed please do let me know here and I will give you as much guidance as possible.
