I have successfully connected my domain having changed the CNAME & A Record in the DNS settings, but the website is still not live. In the domains section of Shopify it states that the domain is connected but that the SSL is still pending. How can I fix this please and is this the reason for why my website isn’t live?
If it’s beyond the standard domain propagation time of 24-48 hours since you updated the domain’s DNS settings, it’s likely that the update was unsuccessful and this is the reason why your domain’s SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is pending and your website is inaccessible. To fix this, I suggest contacting your domain provider for assistance with updating your DNS settings. We need the following details added:
A Record (Shopify IP address): 23.227.38.65 www CNAME Record: shops.myshopify.com
``
Please note you can only have one A record and one www CNAME record associated with your domain. If you have multiple A records and www CNAME records, you will need to remove the ones irrelevant to Shopify in order for your domain to successfully connect to your store.
It will take up to 48 hours for your domain to propagate or update, so you may still find the issue happening after updating your DNS settings. While waiting for the domain to connect, you have the option to set your myshopify URL as the primary domain in the meantime to make your website accessible. You can find the steps to change your primary domain on this page. If the domain is still presenting issues after 48 hours, please visit https://bit.ly/3cJkx8V and log in to your account to create a support request. We’ll look into your domain then.
After the domain is fixed, make sure to set up email hosting so you can have a professional custom email that’s associated with your custom domain (e.g. info@cup.co.uk). Having a custom email is highly beneficial for your business as it can build consistent branding and trust. You can sign up with an email hosting platform such as Zoho Mail or Google Workspace.
