Why is my store still accepting online orders while on pause and build mode?

I want to take a break so I put my store on the pause and build option, but when I look at my store, online shopping is still an option. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your assistance!

Generally, once the Pause and Build plan is enabled it should go into effect right away.

But, to be eligible to pause your store using Pause and Build, your store needs to be on a paid plan and at least 60 days past the free trial period. If your store doesn’t meet these criteria, then you can’t pause your store.

Hey @Shannon5 .

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful. When you use the Pause and Build plan for your store, you can still access your Shopify admin and edit your products when you need to. With that being said, your checkout will be disabled and customers can review your products but they won’t be able to purchase them. If you would like to no longer allow your customers to view your products, you can navigate to Online store > Preferences to locate the Password protection section. I took a screenshot from my test store to show you the section I am referring to:

You can restrict customer access to your online store by enabling the password page. The password page will be the new landing page for anyone who attempts to enter your online store. You will have the option to include a Message for your visitors to let them know why the store is closed for the time being, if you choose to use it.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
