within the “sessions over time” report in analytics there is also a total for “visitors”. This number has been over stated recently. Example: On 3/12 the total visitors reported for the day of 3/11 was 1415, then when you look at the same report on 3/13 for the total on 3/11 the number changed to 993. Is anyone else experiencing and how do we fix it?
Hi there, @fiixdennis . Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community with your question about the ‘Sessions’ data appearing in your Shopify Analytics. My name is Imogen. It’s nice to meet you!
Our Developers are aware of some merchants experiencing drops in their ‘Sessions’ data starting from March 8th, 2024. Since being identified, our Team has been working to address these ‘drops’ in data so they can get them to report things as expected again. As of right now, the issue is recovering, and we expect to have accurate data being reported soon. I recommend allowing a few more days to pass by to allow for our Team to resolve the issue and get the information sorted out. If you notice that your drop in data issue persists over the upcoming week, reach out to our Authenticated Support Team so they can check on the status of the issue, and advise on any potential next steps.
has your problem been resolved? We are facing a similar issue in our store, where traffic data for the same day shows different values when viewed on subsequent days. Do you have any information on when Shopify plans to address this problem?
Hello, @Imogen_1 Has your team resolved this issue? Currently our store also has this problem. Any update?
The problem as not been resolved. However I found something from Shopify that explained that the overstated visitors count is due to bots and other non real visitors. It takes them a day or two to clean them out of the number. What I have experienced is that if I wait one day the the number drops to a “real” number.

Thank you for the response. The same phenomenon is still happening as of 3/27.
