Why is my website loading so slow and how can I fix it?

My website takes about 1 minute to load into the home page and I have no idea why. If there is a way to fix this please let me know.

Upon navigating to your website, I was also able to replicate the issue of continuous loading on the storefront and collections. I understand this is not ideal and rest assured I’ll be happy to assist you.

In order to gain the full context of the issue, could you advise on the following:

  • What theme are you using?
  • Have you recently installed any new apps to your store?
  • Any recent changes made to your theme code?

In the meantime, I’d like to share our resource on** improving your online store speed** resource. I’d also like to share factors you can control on your website to help optimize the speed.

Factors you can control:

  • Disable any apps you’re not actively using. When some apps are installed they can inject code into our theme. Some code can be removed or reordered to improve your online store’s performance.
  • Take a look at your theme code. When you edit or customize themes, file sizes can increase and affect your store speed. Remove any theme features you do not use.
  • Reduce image sizes on your store as they can interfere with loading times.
  • Remove any complex or inefficient liquid code from your theme.

I took a moment to browse your online store and learn more about your brand. Have you already looked into advertising on social media? I noticed you have the text follow us on social media located in your footer section but don’t have social media icons displayed. If you’re looking to enable these social icons, you can do this directly within your Shopify admin. I’ll share the steps below for better visibility.

Adding social media icons:

  • Navigate to your Shopify admin > Online Store > Themes section.
  • Select Customize.
  • Within your theme editor, select the paintbrush on the left-hand side labelled Theme settings.
  • Under Theme settings, select Social media.
  • You can input the URL of your social media accounts (ex. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest)

The first of what hosting do you use? Second, use Google’s speed measurement tools. It will be described what needs to be improved.

  1. I use the Colorblock theme

  2. I only use two apps (Dsers and Alireview)

  3. I haven’t really changed anything in my theme code

If there is anything else you need please let me now and thank you very much.

Also every time I use Google’s speed measurement tools I get a different score.

I appreciate you sharing what theme you’re using and that no changes have been made.

As of yesterday, we received several reports of the following script: https://shopoe.net/app.js injected into the theme.liquid causing themes to load slowly.

A current workaround is removing the script or commenting it out while our team looks more closely into the issue. I recommend contacting Shopify Support so that we can look directly into your theme.liquid and guide you through this. Before removing the script, please create a duplicate of the affected theme(s) before making changes.
