Why is Shopify billing more than expected?

Topic summary

  • Billing discrepancy: a merchant was charged £50 instead of the expected £25 and asked how to fix the issue or remove their payment card.

  • Suggested action: another member advised contacting Shopify Support via the Help Center’s AI chat and escalating to a support advisor.

  • Merchant’s update: they had already contacted support but felt they received no help. They report paying additional money just to shut down the store and still could not speak to anyone directly or obtain a refund.

  • Disputed explanation: someone reportedly told the merchant the extra charges were due to not making sales, which the merchant disputes, claiming such a condition wasn’t stated in the terms and conditions.

  • Outcome/status: no resolution was achieved; the store was closed. The thread appears outdated, and the issue remains unresolved.

  • Open questions: the exact reason for the higher charge, how to remove a card, and clarity on billing policies tied to sales remain unanswered.

Hi, I’ve been having some problems with my billing with Shopify, it’s taken more money that what it said it was going to take, it’s take. £50 out of my bank when it was supposed to be £25 any answers on how I can fix this or delete my card?

Hi @PPBClayCreation !

Since this is a billing issue, it would be best to reach out to Shopify support team directly so, they can further assist you. You can reach out to them by going through their Shopify Help Center and enter your concern on AI chat box, respond to it until the “I still need help” or “chat with a support advisor” option appear.

Hi, I’ve already dint that and they didn’t help in the end I’ve had to pay
them lots of money to even such down my store because they was taking more
money than they supposed to! There no contact information which is stupid,
no one I can talk to that can get me my money back. Some one said it was
because I wasn’t making sales which is stupid again cuz they should have
put that in the terms and conditions with this payment! Which they did not
there’s nothing that can be done now so don’t worry I commented this ages
ago anyways
