Why is the customer spend showing as $0 in my dashboard?

Hi all, I’m just looking through my customers and I’m finding that about 100 or so orders say that €0 has been spent and when I click into the customer it tells me nothing about what they’ve ordered. Has this customer been charged? I can’t tell from my side and I don’t know what their order is. All I can see is the customers address and that €0 has been spent.

The below image is what shows up under the customers tab on shopifys dashboard

“Customers” in your admin are not necessarily all customers. Shopify defines customer as someone that:

  • signs up for your mailing list or a customer account
  • places an order
  • starts an order but abandons their checkout
  • is added to your customer list manually

Hello @Luke64b !

Thanks for including the screenshot with this, very helpful.

What you’re seeing there for the 0 orders are just for customers that may have subscribed to your email list or left an abandoned checkout. These are showing that a customer has not yet spent anything on your store, hence the 0 orders and €0. This is totally normal.

If you’re seeing a lot of these customers on the list with 0 orders, it shows that that customers do visit your site and possibly even subscribe to your email list, but they are not getting through the checkout. Now you will need to look at why this is happening, and how can you increase conversions on your store.
For example, have you considered doing a promotion on your store? You could do some sort of a discount or offer free shipping for a limited time. These are incentives or ways to encourage your customers to go through with the checkout.

For more tips, please see our Shopify Blog article on Timeless Ways to Increase Conversions - some great advice there that many other merchants like yourself find helpful.

Lastly, I wanted to ask - what kind of products are you selling? Please tell me a little bit more about your business and I will see if there is anything else I can suggest.

Please also feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Thanks! -Lana
