Why’s is the checkout process for Shopify POS so slow? Specifically, why are we forced to navigate through 9-10 pages and continuously press “continue”. Even after payment has gone through and the transaction should be done, customers have to press continue THREE more times. For a fast paced food business that does a lot of small transaction, this is a huge deal!
To be clear this is NOT a connectivity problem, it’s a “to many pages/steps problem”.
Why is this necessary? Why isn’t there an express checkout option? 3-4 pages MAXIMUM to checkout a customer should be available.

I’m suffering the same issue, once someone pays, it forces another 3 clicks which I have to swipe away to be prepared for the next sale

I agree, however, the main drag is the “continue” buttons on empty pages. This is completely useless for any type of business. Even boutiques etc don’t want a slow checkout. When customers are ready to pay they want to pay and go, no matter what type of business.
there are ways to consolidate for sure, and at least 4 pages that could get eliminated all together.
after taking the order and pressing “checkout” on the initial page the following should be:

summary of order AND payment type selection. They select credit card..

tip screen
-
“tap swipe slide”

receipt option with huge NO RECEIPT button. There should be other options on this same page to choose text or email receipts and to add themselves to mail list if they choose, but there should be a big “no receipt button” for 95% of people that want to get on with their lives.
after the receipt page it should go IMMEDIATELY back to the home page ready for another order.
Shopify doesn’t have to revolutionize the entire system. They can literally cut in half the checkout time by eliminating useless “press continue” pages. I have submitted requests in every app email phone number that I can. I even tell the people that contacting me for loans. Nothing has been done in over 4 years. It’s such a massive and obvious issue to fix!

Our staff have developed a talk line to help distract the customer while they are waiting for us to process all the things and wait a thousand years for the receipt to print. For the people who start to get impatient we tell them it’s a Shopify thing, nothing we can do. We have 95% return customer rate and none of them like Shopify now!
