Why is there high traffic but no sales on my new store?

Topic summary

OP reports targeted traffic but zero sales or add‑to‑cart events on a new art supplies store. Multiple responders cannot access the site due to a domain error and advise verifying the domain connection; third‑party domains may take up to 48 hours to connect after updating DNS (Domain Name System) settings.

Branding feedback highlights inconsistent branding and risk of customers finding the same products cheaper elsewhere. Suggestions: build a unique brand identity, avoid displaying other brands, add brand marks to product names/images, expand homepage brand info and reviews, create an in‑depth About Us, and remove backgrounds from product photos for a cleaner look.

CRO (conversion rate optimization) tips:

  • Homepage: add favicon/announcement bar, sticky header, clear hero banner, and standout CTAs (call‑to‑action). Use social proof, testimonials, and brand stories (one example image shared).
  • Landing pages: test across devices, use prominent product buttons, improve speed, highlight benefits, craft strong headlines, consider countdown timers.
  • Promotions: prepare seasonal campaigns (e.g., Back‑to‑School), dedicated themed landing pages, and leverage social media/influencers.

Status: No resolution yet. Next steps are to fix domain accessibility and then iterate on branding and CRO; further feedback pending a working URL.

Hi, I have been working on my new store and have been implementing things to increase my conversion rate, but I have not had a single sale. I have plenty of targeted traffic but people are not buying or even adding to cart. I am not sure what the problem is at this point. My store is https://inspiresculptart.com/ If someone could take a look I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi

To be honest, I am not an eCommerce expert, so this is just my opinion and ideas on how you can improve your store

First of all, there is no consistent branding on your products. People can just search for the actual manufacturer and find their products even cheaper. You need to create a vision that all products are unique and people won’t find any other store online that has such a collection of drawing supplies. You can even add your brand TM to the product name or use Photoshop to add your logo. Just don’t use other brands in your store

To really introduce customers to your brand, you need more information about it on the homepage with all the benefits and extended product reviews. For this type of product, you should add long (but interesting) stories of artists who have bought your product so that other artists can relate to them. Also, don’t forget about a separate “About Us” page with a detailed story (ChatGpt can always help, lol), it will really increase your brand’s credibility.

Also, if you remove the background from product photos, your website design will look cleaner and more professional. You can easily find an AI background remover online and do it in 2 seconds.

So you have work to do, but I really like your color scheme and the overall store idea is very niche which is good, it just needs to be represented more correctly

Good luck, I’m sure you are going to succeed!!

Hey @Micmake .

Thanks for reaching out.

When I attempted to navigate to your online store, I was met with an error message from the domain. Did you happen to get your domain successfully added or connected to your online store?

If this is a third-party domain, you can connect the domain manually by making changes to the DNS settings listed here from your domain provider account. With that being said, it can take up to 48 hours for the third-party domain to be successfully connected to the online store.

Looking forward to your response, let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @Micmake ,

I’m Kate from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App.

I couldn’t open your store URL above. Can you please check it again?

I’d like to share some effective tips and checklists to boost your conversion rate optimization (CRO). May it help to improve your Shopify store’s performance and increase sales.

For Homepage:

  • Add a favicon and an announcement bar to enhance brand identity and grab visitors’ attention
  • Incorporate a sticky section containing your logo, menu, cart, and search tool. This ensures easy navigation and quick access to essential elements, enhancing the user experience
  • Create an eye-catching and easy-to-scan hero banner. This will immediately communicate your value proposition to visitors and engage them further
  • Clearly classify your Call-to-action buttons on the pages. Make them stand out with compelling text and placement to encourage users to take action.
  • Leverage social proofs, testimonials, reviews, and brand stories. These elements build trust and credibility, ultimately motivating visitors to make a purchase. Take inspiration from well-crafted testimonials sections, such as the one you can find in this example:

For Landing page:

  • Verify the functionality of your Shopify landing page across different devices - mobile, tablet, laptop, and desktop. Ensure a consistent and user-friendly experience across all platforms
  • Place effective and prominent buttons for featured products. These buttons should be visually appealing and clearly communicate the value proposition
  • Optimize the page speed and performance. A fast-loading page ensures a seamless user experience and reduces bounce rates
  • Highlight positive information about your products to reinforce benefits and build trust among potential customers
  • Craft strong headlines and brief, compelling paragraphs that drive visitors to take action
  • Employ countdown timers to create a sense of urgency, encouraging immediate action

For Promotion campaigns:

Don’t forget to prepare and make use of sales campaigns throughout the year. For instance, Back-To-School (BTS) season is an excellent opportunity to increase CRO. Here are some suggestions to prepare for it:

  • Craft a seasonal Landing page: Design a dedicated BTS landing page on your website that captivates visitors. Showcase your featured products, highlight enticing promotions, and provide comprehensive campaign details. The page should exude a compelling BTS theme and offer seamless navigation to encourage customers to make purchases effortlessly.
  • Leverage Social media and Influencer marketing: Generate excitement for your BTS campaign by utilizing various social media platforms. Share captivating posts, images, and videos that align with the season and promote your enticing offers. Collaborate with relevant influencers or bloggers who can endorse your products and share information about your campaign with their loyal followers. The power of influencers can significantly boost your campaign’s reach and impact.

Feel free to share your URL again, and I’d be glad to provide more detailed feedback on your store.

Best of luck, and have a wonderful day! Cheers!
