Why is UPS not picking up all my packages?

Topic summary

UPS pickups scheduled through Shopify Shipping are not matching the actual number of packages, and there’s no option to specify package quantity. Drivers arrive with a different count than what they have on their end, leading to confusion and frustration. UPS support reportedly doesn’t recognize the issue, while Shopify support maintains that drivers should pick up all packages.

Suggested next steps:

  • Prioritize contacting Shopify support, since the pickup is arranged via Shopify Shipping and UPS may not be able to adjust settings on their side.
  • Consider using a third‑party shipping app (e.g., “Shopify Multi Carrier Shipping Label”) that supports UPS pickups and automation; a 14‑day free trial is available to test if it resolves the package count issue.

Status: No confirmed fix or resolution yet. The thread seeks additional experiences and solutions. Key open questions include whether Shopify offers a setting or update to define package counts and if others can confirm a reliable workaround.

I tried using Shopify’s UPS pickups but it doesn’t send the correct quantity of packages (or even let you select) how many are to be picked up. According to Shopify, UPS is supposed to pick up all of them. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Every time the driver comes, he gets annoyed that the number he has is different. UPS has no idea what I am talking about and Shopify insists UPS should pick all of them.

Anyone else dealing with this? Any solutions?

Hi @Rachel_Khona

I can understand your concern. You can try to contact UPS, however since you are using Shopify Shipping, it might not be fruitful. It is better to contact Shopify to resolve this. If you are open to use any shipping solution for UPS pickups & other shipping automations, I will recommend you Shopify Multi Carrier Shipping Label App.

The app comes with 14 day free trial, so you can check out if its working for you or not. Let me know if you have any queries, I will be happy to help!
