They later reported the discount is now working, without sharing what changed or which settings resolved it.
A Shopify staff member welcomed the update and shared a free Shopify Learn tutorial video on selling alcohol online, covering legal compliance, logistics, product organization, and using recurring payment apps to create a subscription-style “beer club.”
Another community member asked for details on the original issue and fix so others could learn, but no clarification was provided.

Hi,
I’ve tried to set up a discount so that if people purchase any 2 of our beers, they get 1 specific beer free. I’ve tried setting it up automatic, with a discount code and it doesn’t work. I have tried setting a minimum product to buy and I’ve also tried it with a minimum spend, no matter what I do it doesn’t work. I’ve added every product and I’ve tried adding every collection, once again nothing works. HELP!
