Hi all,
I changed my Homepage title and description via “preferences” about 2 weeks ago in the debut theme. I have tried lots of different approaches to getting it to change but nothing. I disabled the password page but the password page title and description are still there. The apps I have installed are BUCKS: Currency Converter, Spocket, Facebook and Customer Privacy. I have no experience in coding so I wouldn’t know if I removed something by mistake while editing the theme code. Every time I google my store it shows the password page, I have tried many different devices and it’s still the same, please help.

Welcome to the Shopify Community. Sorry to hear you’ve been having troubles with your meta description and website. To clarify, the password protection has been removed from your store, is that correct? So when anyone goes to the URL of your website, they can view the website?
If yes, the issue from what I understand is that your title and meta description have not updated on Google since removing the password protection. Currently, the meta description says that your page is coming soon, however, when you click on the link, the website is now open. Is this correct?
If this is the case, there is nothing we can do from our end, as it’s up to Google when they recrawl your website. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. There is more information in Google’s help documentation on how to Ask Google to Recrawl Your Website. You can try the listed available tools to request a recrawl of your website and hopefully this will speed up the process!
As well, if you haven’t already, we recommend finding and submitting your sitemap to Google as well. This helps Google understand and discover the URL’s on your website.

Hi there, yes that is true but for now I have put the password page back up
becuase of the meta description. Thank you for your help, I will take it
down and wait until the crawl is finished!
Thanks for the reply. Ah yes, once the password is disabled, then you’ll need to wait for Google to recrawl your site. Definitely check out the article I shared, you can use the URL inspection tool to request a recrawl. As I mentioned, hopefully this will speed up the process.
