Topic summary
A store owner reports their online shop isn’t appearing in Google’s top search results.
Initial Guidance Provided:
- Link to Shopify’s SEO FAQ documentation shared as a starting resource
- Recommendation to set up Google Search Console and submit the store’s sitemap
Key Troubleshooting Points:
- Indexing delays: After updating content or submitting sitemaps, Google may take days or weeks to index and display pages in search results
- robots.txt file: Check that important pages aren’t accidentally blocked from Google’s crawlers
- Meta tags: Verify pages have proper “index” and “follow” tags; remove any “noindex” or “nofollow” tags that prevent indexing
- Google Search Console: Use this tool to monitor detection results and identify optimization opportunities

Hi @MotionPro ,
Have to set up the Google Search Console and updated our sitemap in your store?
Hi,
I’m experiencing a similar issue with my store’s visibility on Google. While some of my pages appear in search results, others don’t show up. Could you share any tips or strategies to improve my store’s ranking on Google?
Thank you!
I notice you asked this question in 2022 and maybe this issue has already been resolved.
But to avoid further confusion, please note here that if you recently change or update store contents, or submit sitemap to Google recently, you have to wait like several days or weeks until the store will appear in the search results.
Therefore, better double-check your recent work and see if they are all good or not.
Hey @JenniferMark,
Thanks for sharing the same situation that other Merchants facing. But it’s really important to check the robots.txt file to ensure that your home page or the specific pages that are not showing in the Google Search should not be blocked. If you could share the 4 digits collab code in the p/m then I can take a look by myself.
Thanks
You can work on this situation via three ways below:
- Check if you recently updated page content or not. If so, let Google index your page again and after waiting for several days or weeks, you can double-check if new page contents appear in google search.
- Check if some of your web pages have index or follow tag. If not, add the index or follow tag, remove nofollow or noindex tags to increase the possibility of showing on Google.
- Check the detection results in Google Search Console and do the best to optimize them. Usually, after optimizing, the related pages will display normally.
