Why isn't my theme preview functioning properly in Shopify?

Theme preview is not working. It redirects to the live site. Anyone get this type of issue. Right now I have tests in 2-3 stores.

Me too - not working on any sites I have access to (I have tested 12 so far) across operating systems and browsers.

Just to note this issue appears to have been resolved fully on all stores by 9pm GMT on Wed 14th Oct 2021, thanks!

@Marty_1 just an FYI - this theme preview issue is happening again. As of 9.13am GMT previewing a theme on various Plus and Advanced shopify accounts across browsers and OSs causes the theme to default back to the live theme. I’m seeing this via the admin using theme > actions > preview and also when using theme kit ( > theme open).

Can you flag this, please?

if you need to make a quick fix.

you can add ?preview_theme_id=THEME_ID to the URL and it will work (you need to do it every time after page reload :D)

I am having the exact same problem, I thought it was just me. I understand that this may be something that Shopify are fixing but please can someone give me an idea of when this will be fixed. It’s making development very tedious.

We contacted the support about it, they are fixing it but could not tell when it will be fixed. We were not first to report thats all infos they could give.

Hey, this appears to be the case for us. When I click to preview a theme from Admin area, it always opens the shop previewing the published theme instead.

@Marty_1 is this something that is being actively worked on now again?

@Marty_1 Hi Marty, this started to happen again, we need to test some changes in draft themes could you please take a look.
