Hello,
If the password page is not applying in Shopify, there could be a few reasons why this might be happening. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:
-
Check Theme Settings: Ensure that you have enabled the password page in your Shopify theme settings. To do this, go to your Shopify admin dashboard and navigate to “Online Store” > “Themes.” Click on the “Customize” button for your active theme. In the theme editor, look for “Password page” or “Coming Soon” settings and make sure it’s enabled.
-
Save and Publish Changes: After enabling the password page, remember to save and publish the changes. Sometimes, the changes might not take effect until they are published.
-
Check Publishing Date: If you have set a specific publishing date for the password page, make sure that the current date is beyond that publishing date. Otherwise, the password page won’t be visible until the set date is reached.
-
Browser Cache and Cookies: Clear your browser’s cache and cookies. Sometimes, outdated cached data can interfere with the proper loading of your Shopify store.
-
Preview Mode: If you are logged in as an admin or store owner, you might be viewing a preview of the website instead of the actual password page. Log out or use a private/incognito browsing window to see the password page as a regular visitor would.
-
Third-Party Apps or Code: If you have installed any third-party apps or custom code that may affect your password page, try disabling them temporarily to see if they are causing the issue.
-
Check Shopify Status: Occasionally, there might be temporary issues with Shopify that could affect the password page functionality. Check the Shopify Status Page or community forums to see if there are any reported issues.
-
Contact Shopify Support: If you’ve tried all the above steps and the password page is still not applying, reach out to Shopify support for further assistance. They can investigate the issue from their end and provide specific guidance for your situation.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your password page not applying in Shopify.
Hello thanks for replying me back. I have done all the things beside one. When I click Password Page by going to Customize activated theme, it shows me the only option of save. Publish option is not showing and also there is no publish date showing so that I can confirm what you said to check. Rather this, I have tried everything and still the generic password page is only showing.

Hi there came a twist in the issue. When my user go to my website, they see old generic password page. But when they put the visitor password and login to website, after login when they click back button on their browser, they see the custom new password page.
I can give you the password, its “HerbellexSM2023”. Kindly use the link of my website and put this password. Then after entering the website, click back button on the browser, then you will see the new custom password protected page instead of old one. Now this is very confusing
