Favicon (the small icon shown in browser tabs) failed to update; removing it showed a generic icon, but re-adding brought back the old one. The user had been changing the wrong setting, likely updating the logo instead of the theme’s favicon.
Resolution: update the favicon via theme settings in Shopify, not the logo. Path: Shopify Admin > Online Store > Themes > Customize > gear icon (Theme settings) > Favicon, then upload the new icon.
A screenshot was provided to illustrate the correct settings location. No technical limitations with the SVG format were identified or discussed as the cause.
Outcome: after updating through the theme’s Favicon setting, the new favicon appeared immediately. Status: resolved; no further action items noted.
I added a flavicon to my website about a month ago, it been updated 2 days later but it looked awful so i wanted to change it. However it seems like there is a probem. After a few day i tried to simply remove it. then the next day it see it was updated as i had the generic flavicon. .Then i am trrying to add a new one then the old one now appear. It’s been at least a week now. I don’t understand that it seems like it updated after i removed it, but once i add a new one, the old one appear?
Any idea?
I’m using an svg so there should be no restriction right?
