Why isn't PayPal working on my Facebook and Instagram sales channel?

Topic summary

PayPal showing as not activated in the Facebook & Instagram (Meta) sales channel, even when PayPal is active in Shopify.

Key guidance:

Outcomes so far:

  • One merchant confirmed the above steps resolved the issue.
  • Others report it did not help: PayPal appears connected but products remain inactive for the FB/IG sales channel, or the “Connect PayPal” button is unresponsive.

Further steps for unresolved cases:

  • Try an incognito/private window; if still stuck, open a ticket with Meta Support through the app in Shopify Admin. Some cases are display errors Meta can clear manually.

Responsibility notes:

  • The Facebook & Instagram sales channel is supported by Meta, not Shopify. Ensure connection is done in the channel settings before requesting Meta to remove the banner.

Status: Partially resolved; ongoing for several users. An image was shared showing the persistent error banner.

Hi, @G4GBoutique !

Welcome to Shopify Community.

Thank you for sharing your question with our network. If your store is located in the United States region and you have opted in for checkout on Facebook & Instagram, then you will also have to connect your PayPal account through their settings.

This is different from your Payment settings found in your Shopify account. To access them, you can add this to the end of your .myshopify.com URL:

/admin/settings/apps/app_installations/app/facebook-ads/payments

Let’s say your .myshopify.com URL was example.myshopify.com, then you would go to example.myshopify.com/admin/settings/apps/app_installations/app/facebook-ads/payments

That will bring you to your Facebook & Instagram payment options settings where you can enter the desired information. If the banner does not automatically disappear after connecting the payment information, please connect with Meta Support from the Facebook Channel in your Admin.

I trust that helps,
