I am using Ella theme and my mobile menu is not working when the site is live. In the developer it works fine.
When I publish the site, the hamburger automatically takes you to the Products page – which is the entire collection. It does not show the dropdown of the pages on the site. Help. Thanks.
If anyone has ideas, let me know I can publish the site so you can check it out – then un-publish again. I cannot launch my new site until I figure this out.
Hi- thanks!
I published it - I tested on 4 phones - it’s only happening to me at this Point / which I don’t understand - I closed all tabs and rebooted phone -
The site is Www.elementalchild.com and it’s only happening on mobile for me - the menu goes to the products page ( meaning the sort of default top level of collections in the back end - thanks again
Hi .Thanks. I also talked to Ella theme, it’s because my site is so slow on mobile, that the menu is taking a while to load so if you hit it before it loads it takes you to that product page. Now I am trying to figure out how to speed it up. Super newbie here.
Okay Staceyshevlin then in that case you should compress the image size and
Minimize HTTP requests . and
Use a content delivery network (CDN): A CDN stores a cached version of your website on servers located around the world (This can help reduce the time).
And at the end consider upgrading your plan to a faster and more reliable one, if possible.
Hello Staceyshevlin, I am facing the same issue with Ella theme, and its only happening on Iphone, hen using Safari and specifically on Wifi, it works fine on 4G network, and on google chrome and android phones.
Did you manage to fix your issue? I tested your website and it works fine and the menu is clickable without any issue.
Hello, I actually left Ella theme, there was no way to increase site speed. That’s why my menu now works. The problem is that the site is loading too slowly, so you are clicking the menu before it has a chance to fully load, thus it just defaults to taking you to the product catchall page. I wrote to the theme creators, and they said they know speed is an issue but can’t do anything cause the theme is so robust. Best of luck.
There are a few things you can try to resolve the issue of the hamburger menu not working on mobile in the Ella theme:
Deactivate all plugins and test if the mobile menu is working. If it is, then one of your plugins is causing the conflict. You can then reactivate your plugins one by one to identify the culprit.
Clear your site’s cache and test again. Sometimes a corrupted cache can cause problems with the mobile menu.
Contact the Ella theme support team and provide them with the details of the issue you are encountering. They may be able to provide a fix or suggest a workaround.
If you have experience with web development and are familiar with the theme’s code, you can try editing the theme’s code to resolve the issue. However, be careful not to make any changes that you are not sure about, as this could cause further problems.
Here are some additional tips for troubleshooting mobile menu issues:
Make sure that you are using the latest version of the Ella theme.
Check for any JavaScript errors in your console.
Try disabling any custom CSS that you have added to the theme.
Try testing the mobile menu on a different device or browser.
If you are still unable to resolve the issue, you may need to contact a Shopify expert for assistance.
Here are some additional suggestions:
Minimize HTTP requests. You can do this by combining CSS and JavaScript files, and by using a content delivery network (CDN) to serve your static assets.
Use a CDN. A CDN can help to improve your site’s loading speed and performance, which can also help to resolve mobile menu issues.
Upgrade your plan. If you are using a Shopify plan with limited resources, such as Basic Shopify or Shopify Lite, you may need to upgrade to a higher plan in order to resolve mobile menu issues.
Try to remove or comment out the default lines of Ella theme and add my suggested lines (adding an image below for the reference). Contact me if you need further help. Thanks.
