Hello everyone,
Since the latest Shopify Admin update, I noticed that the “Print packing slip” button has been moved into the “More actions” menu, while its previous place is now occupied by buttons such as Refund and Return.
I don’t really understand the reasoning behind this change.
For most merchants, printing a packing slip is a daily task, often performed dozens of times a day. Refunds and returns, on the other hand, are much less frequent.
This update adds extra clicks to one of the most common workflows and reduces productivity for anyone processing orders throughout the day.
Am I the only one who feels this change makes the interface less efficient?

I agree. Printing packing slips is a frequent task, so moving it behind an extra menu adds unnecessary clicks and slow down daily order fulfillment. A dedicated button was much more efficient.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one.
I completely understand that Shopify wants to keep the interface clean, but moving one of the most frequently used actions behind an extra menu doesn’t seem like the best UX decision.
A good compromise would be to let merchants customize the action bar, so each business can choose which buttons are displayed (Print packing slip, Refund, Return, etc.).
That would make the admin much more efficient for everyone.
To be fair, the number of clicks is almost the same as before.
My point isn’t about one extra click, it’s about workflow and usability.
“Print packing slip” is one of the most frequently used actions when fulfilling orders. It made sense to keep it visible as a dedicated button rather than hiding it under “More actions”, while less frequently used actions like Refund and Return are now more prominent.
It just feels like the priorities have been reversed.
