Hi,
I’m having huge problems trying to connect my domain. I have gone into the DNS settings in my domain provider (which is Crazy Domains) and put in the A and CNAME records as instructed (a and 23.227.38.65, and www and shops.myshopify.com).
I did this a few days ago, so plenty of time to refresh. They show up exactly as they should. I have deleted all other A and CNAME records so there should be no issue,.
But I am getting an error message saying ‘A and CNAME entered incorrectly’, even though I copied and pasted exactly as they said.
When I go on dnschecker.org it is still showing as the old IP even though it has been changed for a long time, and the CNAME just shows as an X/error.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong and yet I just CANNOT connect the domain, which our store kind of hinges on.
Is there any way to fix this?
Hi @Fluidpro ,
Thank you for reaching out. From what you have shared with me here, it sure sounds like you have configured your domain correctly. Would you be comfortable sharing your domain’s URL with me here so I can check it on my end?
Hi @Victor_5
Thanks for replying.
URL is fluidproshop.com.au
I have attached a screenshot of how it looks in Crazy Domains with the DNS records set up, and the error message I am getting in Shopify. I still don’t get what is going wrong.
Hi @Fluidpro ,
Thank you for sharing your screenshots with me here. It would seem your A record is incorrect based on both the message from Shopify and from the screenshot within your domain dashboard. I’m seeing that the DNS record’s value is 204.93.213.45 when it should instead be 23.227.38.65. You should not have any other values here for the A record.
The subdomain’s value is correct but the name of the record should just be “www” rather than the full subdomain. Please ensure you are following the instructions we have listed perfectly and then your domain should work correctly.
Thanks Victor,
I have the following issues with this:
-
Every time I type in 23.227.3865 and save it, it shows up again as 204.93.213.45. Is there a reason it would override what I am putting in? As I am literally copy pasting and it is still doing this. I have deleted all other A record values and yet it still insists on doing this.

With the subdomain being ‘www’ rather than the full subdomain, what does that mean?
When I go to enter the CName record, this is the only option I have to enter it:
it does not give me the option to write it any other way. Are you saying it just needs to say www.shops.myshopify.com??
I have tried connecting it to Shopify this way: (I’ll show you step by step to show you what seems to be the issue).
And it gives me the option to manually enter the CName, so I have put it in:
It comes up with this message:
When I click ‘override’, it looks like this:
This does not look right.
I don’t really understand why I am following what appear to be really simple step by steps and something is just not adding up.
Do you know anything about what might be causing this? As I am at my wit’s end trying to comprehend why it’s not working. My Domain provider offers no help or support and has ignored my requests for assistance.
Thanks so much for your help
Hi @Fluidpro ,
Okay, thank you. It looks like you are entering in the correct information into your domain dashboard—seeing how you enter the subdomain in looks correct—however, it is hard to say why the A record is being overwritten after you enter it in. As you’re required to enter in this information on the Crazy Domains dashboard, I’d recommend speaking with them about this and asking them for assistance. You can inform them of the information you need to input and they should be able to troubleshoot why these details aren’t saving correctly.
Thanks so much Victor
I’ll try to contact them directly as it does seem to be an issue on their end now.
Thanks for looking into this for us, appreciate the advice
Hi @Fluidpro ,
No problem at all. I hope that they’re able to help you resolve this on their end. Please let me know if you need help with anything else.
