I keep getting emails from google that next year they will discontinue Universal analytics and shops will need to upgrade to GA4. Does shopify planning on updating things by then?

I appreciate you planning ahead for your business. While I don’t have a timeline to share, our developers are aware of the deadline to transition to GA4.
I recommend waiting for the Google channel to introduce support for GA4, but for the time being, Shopify still supports Universal Analytics. Keep an eye out for updates here on the Shopify Changelog.
