If I change themes and decide I don’t like it and change back to my original theme will everything be back in its original place? I currently use Dawn and planning on changing to Origin but I’m worried that if I don’t like it if I change back to dawn everything will be in the wrong places.

You can add this theme again. It will have 2 Dawn themes. one is original. one is custom theme
Changes to theme settings do not automatically transfer between themes.
Always backup themes before changing files.
A manual process is if the theme is from the same developer you can copy the settings_data.json between them to see if some not all setting move over saving a bit of time in resetup when swapping themes.
So for example the settings from shopify’s new OS2. themes based on the dawn themes like crave,sense, share similar architecture and naming conventions.
Settings you make to themes are separate from the admins resources such a product data, collections, pages,etc
