Wonky Website With Columns Missing and Footer Messed Up

Topic summary

Main issue: layout and formatting problems after duplicating a Shopify store. The 3-collection layout collapsed to a single column; the duplicate showed the same, leading to concern that duplication didn’t preserve layout/content.

Footer concerns: policy links appear piled together, not capitalized, and not centered. The user can’t edit titles like “Privacy policy” or locate relevant controls in footer.liquid, Navigation, Policies, or Pages. Desired layout: business name/copyright centered on the top line of the footer; policy and contact links capitalized, evenly spaced, and centered on the line below; ability to control column choices.

Update: the collection column issue has been resolved by the poster.

Current request: guidance on how to capitalize the first letter of each policy item in the footer (e.g., via theme settings or CSS), and generally tidy spacing/centering. No code snippets or images provided. No responses yet; the thread remains open.

Hi, I’m very new to Shopify and despite all the tech setbacks I’m close to launching. However, yesterday I was told to duplicate my store if I intended on editing code, which I did. Then I couldn’t find what I was looking for in code and I find out that my 3 collection columns are down to one. Can’t get it back to 3. I thought, at least I made a duplicate and went to it to see how it differed so I could fix the issue. The copy is also down to one column. So, I assume a duplicate doesn’t preserve content that was there at duplication. So disappointing!

What I was and still am also trying to correct is the Footer. I want everything there tidy. When I completed my policies they are all piled up and not capitalized nor centered automatically in the footer. I’ve been all over trying to correct this issue so I can move on and can’t even find any of it in footer.liquid nor other areas in code, Nav, Policies and Pages. It does not permit me to edit the subject such as Privacy policy.

I’d like the biz name/copyright line on the top of footer and centered and all the policies and contact capitalized, evenly spaced and centered on the next line below. And of course I want choices in columns again.

Can anyone help me with this please? Thanks!

I fixed the column issue.

Now I just need to know how to capitalize each 1st letter in the footer policies.

Thanks
