XTRA Theme, Editing slideshow to have multiple images with the same Text

Topic summary

A user is attempting to customize a slideshow on the XTRA theme where images cycle on the left while descriptive text remains static on the right. Currently, both the image and text animate together during transitions, creating an undesirable visual effect even when duplicating the same description across slides.

Proposed Solutions:

  • Create a looping GIF containing multiple images to display on the left, keeping file size optimized to avoid performance issues
  • Pursue advanced theme customization by modifying slideshow dimensions and adding custom code for a static description box, though this requires careful consideration of mobile/responsive behavior

Additional Recommendations:

  • Contact the theme developers to request this as a feature
  • If the GIF approach proves insufficient or advanced customization is needed, professional development services are available

The discussion remains open as the user evaluates these technical approaches.

Hello,

I am trying to create a slideshow in which the left side has a slide show of images, while the right side is the description. The issue I am having is that the whole slide (the image and description change), and I would like only the image to change while the description does not move. My current workaround is having the same description, but you can still see the animation of the whole slide moving, and it does not look as good.

Is there a way to only have the images move? Or to make the slideshow box half the width and then get a text box on the right that I can keep the same?

Theme is Xtra.

Use a gif image that loops through different imagery.

Restrain expections, do not put in excess imagery, putting in effort in optimizing the file size of the gif to not bog down the site.

Otherwise this is an advanced theme customization because not only would you be changing the slideshows dimensions you would have to add new code for the structure used to display a static description; and figure out the behavior for mobile/small screens either hide, stack, or shrink.

Of course follow up with the makers of the theme and do a feature request that you want the first description to be able to be static while only the images change.

If you need this customization, or the gif approach explored then contact me directly by mail for services.
