'You have a sale' voice now on push notification

As well as the comforting ‘kaching’ on my ipad this morning when a sale comes through I suddenly have a voice as well telling me I have a sale.

is there anyway I can disable the voice but keep the ‘kaching’ noise.

I just got the same notification it scared me at first cause i didn’t expect it no one else is talking about it so i don’t know how to turn it off

Hi, all!

I understand that you’re looking to disable the voice notification when receiving a sale on your Shopify store. Below, I’ll share the steps on how to do this via the Shopify Mobile app.

How to disable the default sound:

  • Open Shopify Admin in the Shopify Mobile app
  • Go to Store > Settings > Store Notifications
  • Open Settings for “Use your phone’s settings to edit push notifications
  • Select the notification you wish to change and instead of “App provided sound” you can change it to any other sound on your device.

Please let us know if you run into any issues following the above steps. We hope this helps!

Hi Victoria,

when I go into store notifications there is no settings option within that.

It has a heading Push Notifications and then under that I can toggle on and off

Fulfillment Hold

Victoria,

The problem is that we want to remove the voice of the guy saying, “You have sales!” But keep the “cha-Ching” noise. Where did this voice even come from anyways? Out of the blue yesterday, it just started happening. Only Shopify has the “Cha-Ching” noise, and what we are asking is only to remove the guys voice. Also, I went through all your steps and there is no menu option like the ones you are suggesting.

I just got the same notification this morning. It is really annoying. Hope they change it back or come up with some way to turn it off.

Not a lot of people here nostalgic for AOL I see

I can’t find the option to change the sound. It only allows me to turn it on/off. Cha-Ching is great but the voice over is awful!

The voice is awful! I hope they fix this so we can keep the kaching, as it is helpful.

Hi Victoria,

I hate this new voice. It’s intrusive and unnecessary. I tried your instructions, but there is no option for “Use your phone’s settings to edit push notifications”. Like the others, I like the cha-ching. But this voice thing has to go.

Thanks,

Janet

Hi, all!

We appreciate your feedback!

After communicating with the team, the sound will not need to be disabled. I would like to advise that the “You’ve Got Sales” order notification will only play twice a lifetime before reverting back to the classic “cha-ching” sound when an order is placed.

Thanks for the update. My opinion is probably not a popular one, but I kind of liked the voice. It gave me a good feeling when the sale came in. Kind of pumped me up. I wish they would give us a choice as stated at the beginning.

Oh no!! Only twice a lifetime. I love the AOL nostalgia notification. I came to this threat looking how to turn it back on. I would love to have the option to choose which notification we could receive.

Can we turn it back on? Would be great if there was options to have both if you’d like!

Can we get it as an optional sound?

Hi, all!

Jumping back in on this thread. Thank you for your feedback on the voice notification.

I’ve gone ahead and submitted your feedback to our developers to look into implementing this feature in the future. Be sure to keep an eye out on our Shopify Changelog for any platform updates and launches.

Thank you for being so reactive to our feedback! I find the cha-ching from shopify okay; the one from Etsy is a little tacky because it’s less subtle. This new AOL “You’ve got sales” seems like someone in development was trying to pull a prank. If it had happened when I was talking to a (non-retail) colleague I would have been mortified! I’d love to see the option to change it to another sound entirely, as you mentioned above - I’m on an iphone.

But how do we get the cha ching sound back? I’ve gotten that “You’ve got sales” guy, yes he scared the crap out of me. Now, he no longer talks and I get no sound on my phone at all, only the Badge icon indicating a sale all of my notifications and push notifications are on, but it will not make a sound I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Anyone got any ideas?

I’m also on a iPhone 14 Pro Max and I’m not getting any sound at all. I miss the Ka-ching. We wants our Ka-chings back! :slightly_smiling_face:

I personally like the voice but would like to be able to have the option to decide with our without the voice and/or the ka-ching. I have a similar voice notificiation of Dr Evil saying “You’ve got frickin mail” as an email notification, love it!
