None of the codes seems to be accepted and I get the following error message: Your card was declined. Your request was in test mode, but used a non test card
Which seems to be saying that I have not input the correct test card numbers.
Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!
I understand that you’re testing Shopify Payments and you’ve enabled the test mode for Shopify Payments. However, you’re also encountering an error that indicates a declined payment using the test card numbers. While I don’t have enough information (or screenshots) about to identify the card numbers you’re using, it’s worth mentioning that there are different card numbers that simulates successful transactions or unsuccessful transactions. Just to confirm, which test card numbers are you using in these tests?
That being said, if you’re using an actual credit card number during test mode, then that would explain the error message as it indicates you’re using a non-test card. If you’d like to use a real credit card and perform a test using a real order, then you’d need to disable the test mode for that.
I’d love to hear more about your business! What kinds of products are you selling? Did you get a chance to try a card number that simulates a successful transactions?
I went away for a few days and, upon return, tried successfully. I wonder if that is some activation time on your end. If not, I have input the automated addresses correctly. Anyway, it’s up and running tonight.
I didn’t notice any delays when testing the Shopify Payments, as it was working right away on my test store. Nevertheless, I’m glad to hear that you were able to use the test mode successfully upon returning!
I’ve also taken a look at your store (digitalnomadix.com) and I think your store looks amazing! I love the fonts and designs, which are consistent throughout the pages, and you’re also using Shopify Chat on your store. I think the only question I have is how well the Sticket works, so perhaps adding other product media types could go a long way for your visitors.
That being said, there could be an opportunity that some customers would buy multiple units of the Sticket, as many people have multiple devices at home and at work these days, and it would also make a great small gift idea for Father’s Day. Have you considered offering a Buy X Get Y discount?
Some merchants also find that removing the “Powered by Shopify” message from the footer adds to the professionalism of their online store - would this be something that interests you?
Since it looks like you’re ready to launch your store as well, then it could be the right time to start planning ahead for marketing and advertising your store. Do you have a marketing plan prepared for your store at the moment?
