Your data erasure requests for the following customers are complete

I just received a notification email telling me that

“Your data erasure requests for the following customers are complete”

BUT I am still in the process of building a store and have had no customers yet?

I’m worried this is flagging up a weakness in my security - has anyone else had this happen and should I be worried?

This sounds like the confirmation email that is sent when you request the erasure of your customer’s personal data. This is typically done by going to Customers in your Shopify Admin, selecting a specific customer, and then clicking Erase personal data. You can read more about GDPR data requests here.

Since you haven’t requested this I would recommend speaking to our live support team here. I’m not able to see your account over the Shopify Community, but our Support Advisors would be able to review your account with you in more detail if you reach out to us through the link I shared.   1. Start on this page.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. Select a topic most related to your question or problem.

Hello, I recieved an email about this tonight and I did not change anything on the shopify portal?

Same with our store - never seen this message before last night which indicated that 4 customers had been erased.

We’ve received two emails from Shopify now with 6 customer IDs each (12 total) identified as having been erased per our request (that was not made).

What glitch in Shopify is this and how do we recover those accounts?

I’m not able to see details about your accounts, or these emails, over the Shopify Community. That being said, I definitely want to look into this with you further. Especially since this happened to all three of you recently. If you contact our support team here we can review this with you in more detail to see what caused this and if there are steps we can take to recover information that may have been lost.
