"Your Thank you and Order status pages must be replaced"

Topic summary

  • Issue: Merchant saw a warning in Checkout Settings—“Your Thank you and Order status pages must be replaced”—and couldn’t manually edit the Thank You page (error shown). The warning referenced incompatible apps and advised replacing them with pixels and app blocks.

  • Context: Shopify is rolling out Checkout Extensibility, deprecating the legacy checkout “script” area. Custom tracking should move to Customer Events as pixels (tracking scripts), and visual/functional changes should use app blocks, then publish changes.

  • Advice shared: Replace incompatible apps per Shopify’s guide; add scripts or custom pixels via Customer Events; contact the theme provider or Shopify Support to check theme/app conflicts; verify the upgraded checkout/Thank You pages are published. A video guide (timestamp 00:55–02:25) was provided for reference.

  • Outcome: The original poster later confirmed it was a problem on Shopify’s end.

  • Status: Resolved for the poster; ongoing platform transition to Checkout Extensibility remains the longer-term requirement.

When I look at my Checkout Settings, I see this warning below. I have no idea what this means. I don’t have any apps related to checkout. I see solutions mentioning ‘extensibility’ and ‘pixels’ but none of this means anything to me. When I try to manually edit my Thank You page, it just shows an error on screen.

Your Thank you and Order status pages must be replaced

Your Thank you and Order status pages are using incompatible apps. Replace your incompatible apps with pixels in customer events and with app blocks in the editor, then publish your changes.

@Platypyrus Hi

shopify is updating Checkout Extensibility. When it will able the script area in bottom off checkout settings but after that you will add any script or custom pixels code in costumer event area .

Hi @Platypyrus !

There might be a technical issue going on due to updates or you might install an application before that might cause this issue. I highly suggest that you reach out to your theme provider or Shopify support team so, their technical team can further check your Theme coding and see what the root cause of this error is.
