Hey guys, not sure if this question belongs here or on the YouTube side, but as the title says, the YouTube Store analytics (YouTube Studio > Channel Analytics > Connected Stores) is not tracking orders and total sales anymore. It’s all good with Product clicks, and Product impressions.
The date it stopped tracking matches the date we migrated our “Thank You” and “Order Status” pages to the Checkout Extensibility format.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
Hey there! That sounds super frustrating, especially after making a big change like migrating to Checkout Extensibility. This kind of shift can sometimes break connections between Shopify and third-party platforms like YouTube, especially if the tracking scripts or integrations aren’t updated to work with the new checkout flow.
For Shopify’s own reports, you can check if orders are coming through as normal in your Shopify Admin via Analytics > Reports. If the data looks correct there, the issue is definitely with the YouTube-to-Shopify connection.
As for deeper order and sales tracking, apps like Mipler reports can help you see if orders are flowing properly from the Shopify side (useful for troubleshooting where the disconnect is happening).
I recommend double-checking any tracking or integration settings in both Shopify and YouTube Studio. It might also be worth reaching out to YouTube support, since the timing aligns exactly with the checkout migration.
This issue is directly caused by the migration to Checkout Extensibility. When you switched your Thank You and Order Status pages to the new format, Shopify moved them into a secure sandboxed environment. This sandbox effectively blocks the old tracking scripts that used to live in your checkout.liquid file or Additional Scripts box, meaning YouTube sees the clicks but gets blinded right before the purchase data is sent.
The most common fix is to force the official Google & YouTube app to update its tracking method. Go to your Shopify Admin, open the Google & YouTube channel settings, and disconnect your account. When you reconnect it, the app should automatically install a new Web Pixel in the Customer Events section that is compatible with the new checkout system. This bridges the gap that the migration created.
