Daily Sales Don't Match Payout Reports

Has anyone had success in finding a way to match the daily sales reports to the payouts? We are in California and our sales are captured in the PST time zone, but our payouts are batched in the UTC time zone (which makes no sense). Because of this, the reports never match and it's been extremely difficult to match to our bank. I've read several other threads where users have complained of the same issue.

Who has had success in troubleshooting this and what did you do? Thank you so much!

Having the same issues- it's so frustrating! Is there no way to adjust the setting?

Yes, I would like to know how to adjust the time for our payouts to match the time of the daily sales reports. Thank you.

We have called several times about this and they seem to not understand what the problem is. After all the time and effort we have put into moving to this platform this issue is making us seriously consider moving to something else like Lightspeed. We are using both the POS and online solutions. If someone has an answer we are all ears! I wonder if using a different payment processor than ShopifyPayments would work...

I am having the same difficulties matching daily sales to deposits. Was mentioned to change time zone to EDT but am not given the option to change it when I go to settings>general>time zone.

Would really like to get some answers.

Hi KJ16,

Nope nothing has changed. I just send my CPA a monthly sales report showing
the sales for each day and she creates a log for those sales. It was too
much of a pain for her to try and keep track of the daily stuff shopify
provided. Its so dumb that they have that sycned to the timezone that
shopify's home base is and not synced to our stores location. Just another
very small issue that shows shopify doesn't really care about their
customers.

You could look at our Report Toaster app. A lot of our customers use our sales reports to balance, as they can be adjusted to work off UTC.

Yes, I had the same issues. There are a few reasons why this may happen.
Depending on what time zone you are in, your day might end at different
times.
For example, the time zone that SHOPIFY has put our store into actually has
the daily reports end at 8pm. Even though our storefront closes at 5pm all
orders that are made online until 8pm are included in that days report.
Another reason is if there are refunded transactions that were made one day
and then refunded on another.
Also, the gift cards redeemed, are not included in our daily totals because
we are on the regular Shopify plan instead if the Shopify Plus that gives
more detailed reports.
Daily credit exchanges are also taken out of daily totals.
What I have found helpful, was to make a spreadsheet where I keep track of
all monies taken (csh, debit, mastercard, visa, amex, etransfers and Square
payments). I separate what was paid through Shopify for everyday of the
month. When trying to reconcile at month end It’s easier to see why I am
short one day and over another. Which gets tricky when there is more than
one return in a day.
And of course you have to take into account the Shopify fees that are
deducted.
I hope this is making sense to you. If you would like a sample spreadsheet
like the one I am using just let me know.
Or if You have questions…

Hi @ladyandlarder,

Keanna here from the Better Reports support team.

Have you found a solution for this yet? If not, I'd recommend our app Better Reports.

We have a built-in report called 'Payout details' that shows the detailed list of transactions that are part of each payout. You can use this to reconcile which orders/transactions are included in each batched payout. We can also modify the report to create a custom report for your specific needs.

In addition to custom reporting capabilities, Better Reports offers more than 60 built-in reports that cover your most common reporting needs including sales, current inventory, refunds, payouts, and more. Our reports can even be scheduled to send at a set frequency to your email or Google Drive!

I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I'll be happy to direct you to the report.
