Meital
Hi @meitalys!
I am not sure if I follow, but I would love to help!
How and where are you trying to change the profile picture? Is it the profile picture from your Shopify admin? If you would like to change the profile picture that shows in your admin, click on the photo in the top right corner. Then select manage account, this should open up a new page where you can select upload photo or remove photo. Please see my screenshot below:
I hope this is what you're looking for, but if not let me know! I can see that you're new here, is this your first time selling online? Likewise, I'd love to learn more about your business and goals.

I'm having a similar problem trying to delete my photo. I click "Remove Photo" as in your screenshot above. The image does not disappear, but a save button appears. Click "Save" and get a success message, but the image is still there.
If I select "Upload Photo" I can replace the image, but if I then try to remove it the avatar goes back to the original image I'm trying to delete.
Tried multiple browsers, cleared caches, logged out and back in. No change in behavior. Also tried through the mobile app. Same behavior.
Hi @dlomarcan!
Thanks for joining this thread.
In addition to that, thank you for letting me know the troubleshooting steps you have taken. Just to clarify, are you clicking save which appears on the top of the page after you make the profile pic change as it can easily be missed? My colleagues and I have tested this out, and we were all able to change our profile pictures with success.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi Maz! Sorry for the delay.
Yes, I've been hitting "Save" after making the changes. I can successfully change to a new image, but when I try to remove it and have no image I am unable to do it.
I uploaded a brand logo to replace an unprofessional icon I uploaded when I created my first Shopify account. This is what I see now.
I work with several brands and would prefer not to have a brand logo as my avatar. I was hoping by uploading a new image I could then delete it. However, when I click "Remove photo" I see my original avatar image. See below - notice that the "Remove photo" button is now disabled.
At this point I do NOT click on Save because I'd rather have the brand logo than the monster.
Hey @dlomarcan!
Thanks for getting back to me and no problem about the delay!
As you have the monster image now, what happens when you click on upload photo, since the remove photo option is unavailable? Are you able to change the photo by clicking on upload photo and then save? Thanks!

Yes. I can upload and save another image and it replaces the monster. But if I delete the newer image the monster comes back.
Hey @dlomarcan!
Thanks for your response!
I tested this out on my own test store again, and I can replicate these steps you mentioned in your reply exactly. The image defaults back to the previous image when you click on 'remove photo'.
That being said, I am not sure if I fully understand the nature of your concern, as you can still upload the photo you need and save it? Can you elaborate on why this is a concern for you?
I would advise uploading the image that you do want as your profile photo, and leaving it at that. Removing an image may very well revert to a previous one, so I would not recommend doing that.
By the way, how are you set for Black Friday and Cyber Monday?

This is a concern because for some reason one of our plugins started displaying the monster image on the storefront. I've changed to the brand logo for that store to fix that problem.
However, I work on several brands. If another plugin (or a different instance of the same one) displays the brand logo avatar on the front end of the store for a different brand that will be a problem.
Also, I wanted to make sure this behavior is documented somewhere in case another user runs into the same issue.
I'm ok with closing this issue for now as you have been unable to replicate this issue. I'll start a new thread if it becomes an issue again.
Hey @dlomarcan!
Thanks for getting back to me.
Just to clarify, I was able to replicate it this happens exactly the same for me, just so you're aware. It looks like it is expected behavior here. I have just added this as feedback with our developers for you. I can see that this has been brought up by others before, so hopefully this will be something they will take a look at in the near future.
In regard to the plugin, I am not entirely sure how the connection works there and how the profile photo is pulled. In saying that, it might be a good idea to get in touch with our live support here, and mention this issue to them. It could well be a caching issue, though! They may be able to liaise with the developers on your behalf and check how this information is pulled on to their side.
Once again, thanks for flagging this and do let me know if there is anything else you need!

Hi I wanted to add on to this. I am facing the same issue, except that I registered a shopify account more than 5 years ago with my email, and i have not logged in since. Recently when i am on other online shops, i noticed that when they are using Shopify as their domain, the avatar that was given shows up.
As the avatar is wildly inappropriate, I am puzzled as to why this was even an option in the first place. I am able to replace the photo in shopify with the similar steps of uploading a new photo, however, even after doing so, the shop that i tried to cart out of still reflects the inappropriate avatar.
I am concerned as I'm not sure if there was a breach in privacy somewhere, or this was an intentional avatar?
Hey, @sihui!
Thanks for joining this thread and for flagging this issue.
Can you tell me what you mean by when you are other Shopify managed stores the avatar shows up? Can you specify where or how this shows up? Is this when you're online shopping?
If you can, please share some screenshots so that I can understand better.
Is this avatar appearing when you are logged in as a customer on a store or somewhere else?
Looking forward to hearing back from you soon!

So the developers just don't care or what? It is a year later and it still doesn't work as expected. Remove Photo should do exactly that, remove the photo, not simply show the last one used.
And the funny thing is, on the manage your account page, where the remove photo button is, when you click remove photo it does actually look like it is removed as the photo is then replace with your initials on a colored square (the default). But then in Shopify Admin it still shows the last photo used. It is clearly broken and doesn't even work as designed since the manage account page correctly shows no photo after removing the photo.
Hey, @Houdini!
Thanks for joining this thread.
I can understand the importance of being able to remove your profile image without having to replace it.
While I don't have direct insight into the specific reasons behind this behaviour, I'd be happy to forward this feedback along with the others for the developers to review. We are always looking for valuable feedback and ways to improve the platform, so I thank you for your insight.
At this moment in time I do not have any updates on this, however please keep an eye on our Changelog here at this link for developments in the future.
