How can I resolve the tax details error on my eCommerce platform?

I joined Shopify a month ago and continue to get this message on the tax details page:

 

"Business tax id does not match company name. Please ensure that your legal business name is exactly as registered with the IRS. DBAs ("doing business as" names) can not be used in this registration."

 

Live chat raised a ticket on 02/01/2023 to see if I could accept payments other than Shopify Pay while I wait for Shopify to recognise my tax details (which are correct - I have checked and re-checked, and the IRS says everything is correct) to be accepted on the Shopify system. The ticket has not been attended to, and today (02/27) live chat is saying wait for the ticket to be reviewed. However, I got an email today saying as of 02/28 I won't be able to accept payments as the tax details error is still occurring.

 

Live chat says wait for the ticket to be reviewed, but the ticket was not asking for the error to be resolved. It was asking if forms of payment other than Shopify Pay could be used until the error message went away. So live chat won't help in real time. They're not even trouble-shooting.

 

How do I get this resolved before tomorrow?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Forums with your concern. I can appreciate the urgency here and that you wish to get this resolved as soon as possible.

 

I can confirm that you've taken the correct steps in opening a ticket with the verification team, and your ticket is in line to be reviewed by them. Regrettably, I am unable to provide you with an update or timeline on when this would be resolved, as I have no access to accounts/stores via the public forums myself. This is due to merchant privacy, security and authentication practices.

 

I am aware though that this team is working through many cases at this time of the year, and therefore some requests may take longer than usual to work through.

 

In regard to using other forms of payment methods until the error message went away, you can of course implement this. Did you create a ticket for this exact query and are waiting for an update on this too? I can advise that you can choose your region from this page here, and it will provide you with the available gateways for where you are based.
