When does the migration take effect? We received an email stating the week of Oct 7th, but we have Paypal transactions still going through Paypal account, not through Shopify Payments (as of 10/14).
Do we need to turn off Paypal Express Checkout as a payment option in settings?
Can we continue to receive our selected Shopify Payments payout frequency? This migration seems to have affected the Shopify Payments payout frequency for many users, as discussed in the link below. Those with weekly payout selected in settings are now receiving forced daily or multiple per day payouts; this is an administrative nightmare.

Thank you for the question.
Migrations to PayPal wallet on Shopify Payments started last week and should wrap up by the end of next week. You'll get an email once your shop has been migrated successfully. Only the shops who have received emails with the subject "Upcoming changes to your PayPal payments" will be migrated. No need to disable PayPal Express Checkout. it's automatic with the migration. Post migration, PayPal will show up as a wallet under Shopify Payments. Your PayPal wallet payouts will combine with Shopify Payments payouts and follow the same schedule you’ve set for Shopify Payments.
About the payout frequency issue you mentioned, they are not related to wallet migration itself. They are related to introduction of second payment provider to process your Shopify Payments transactions in the U.S.
- You’ll see two payouts since each provider sends payouts for transactions they process separately.
- Payouts from the new provider aren't yet honoring the set payout frequency & descriptor. Payouts are happening daily with "Shopify-" as the descriptor. We're working on fixing this, and it should be sorted in a weeks or sooner. Note - for transactions processed by the second provider, Payout reports might show weekends as "Payout Date", but banks won't process them until Monday.
Hope this clears things up!

Hey there, do you think this will affect the transaction fees at all? Also, how do you think chargebacks and disputes will be handled with this change?
Thank you for the question.
Fees you will pay for PayPal transactions on Shopify Payments are mentioned in the email (subject: "Upcoming changes to your PayPal payments") you received informing you of the migration. Post migration to Shopify Payments, chargebacks and disputes for the PayPal wallet orders will be managed via your Shopify admin. For transactions that happened prior to the migration, You can continue to manage disputes and chargebacks via your PayPal Business Center account.
