Hello shopify!
So we've had our store for over a year now and I was wondering what methods you guys have used to drive traffic? Our site is climateoutdoors.com, we've put a lot of time into creating products and it seems that people like our designs for clothes. We've just had trouble creating traffic on our website. We have a twitter account with over 900 followers plus an instagram account. If you have any tips or advice for us that would be great. Hope to hear from you soon
Thanks
Hi Climate Outdoors,
I was wondering if what are the strategies you are using to help in improving traffic in your website? It can help of you also display the social media accounts in your homepage. 900 twitter followers for a year is too low. You can earn as much as 100 daily organically with interest on outdoor products.
If you haven't tried these yet, you may try:
Yahoo! Answers
Quora
Niche Forum
Blog Commenting
Hope these can help in your traffic generation.

Hi there,
Shopify Blog has a great article with 50 ways of getting the traffic and first sale https://www.shopify.com/blog/11415817-50-ways-to-make-your-first-sale
Hope it helps.
As for me, the experience is about creating the valuable freebie and give it away. You can orgnanize the contest with http://Gleam.io or https://www.rafflecopter.com
However I'd like to emphasize on the landing page you drive the traffic. If the landing page is the product page, the next question will be whether it has content rich informaiton? I.e. video / more content related to the product. It goods from both point of view: users and SEO.
Cheers,
Social media continues to stay one of the best sources of referral traffic to website. In my opinion, you should pick one channel and focus your energy on that. Between Twitter and Instagram, I think Instagram should be the obvious choice. It’s more visual and that’s a must for online sellers. Also, it’s easier to grow on Instagram than on other channels.
All you need to do is have the right content and hashtags. Since Instagram is extremely visual, it’s important to develop some sort of theme with your posts. This article explains how to develop a theme on Instagram in detail
Next is the type of content that you post and how many times you post. Eventually followers get tired of seeing product posts. A brand as big and exclusive as Dior posts different types of content. There are lots of things other that your product photos that you can post, that can keep your followers hooked. Here’s a complete list of these things: 47 content ideas.
About the frequency of your posts - you'll need to be consistent with your posts. Just one post a day or in two days is fine provided you stay at it. This is something that you'll also have to experiement.
Without hashtags, it’s highly unlikely that your posts will be found. So you need to focus on them as well. I’ve seen a lot of sellers use insanely spammy hashtags thinking that it will increase the reach of their posts. Instagram is cracking down on these type of hashtags, so use hashtags that are relevant to your products and not spammy.
I was managing social media for a while and I know just how much time it can take to find these hashtags for each and every post. And that’s why I’d suggest you use OrangeTwig’s hashtag research tool. It’s unbelievable how powerful it is. And it’s fully compliant with Instagram’s policies. With this tool, you’ll get a list of relevant as well as related hashtags for your niche. Learn more about the tool here.
If you want to grow real followers, there’s one more thing that’s an absolute must - engaging with people. By engaging, I mean, liking, following and commenting. Oh and don’t even think about bots. Instagram has been cracking down heavily on bot services and many of them have recently been shut down. This engagement should be as genuine as possible. Again, I know this is work. With OrangeTwig, you’ll be able to engage with potential buyers as well and like I said before, this is Instagram approved. So no worries there. Learn more about it here.
There’ll be really no point of growing your following if your followers don’t convert to buyers. The one big issue with Instagram is that it allows only one clickable link - in the bio. So with every post, you can take your followers to only one place and then they are supposed to find the item they liked.
If you want to grow your sales from Instagram, it’s crucial that you make your posts clickable. OrangeTwig lets you do that. You'll be able to take your potential buyers straight through to relevant products and thereby increasing sales. Learn more about it here.

All this should eventually help you with traffic to your website.
I hope this helps.

I'd suggest to try using Google Adwords + Remarketing via Google Display + Google Search. Before doing above tactic you'll need to invest the time in keywords research. For achieving that goal you'll have to understand customers well.
And the last thing is to build specific landing pages for Google Adwords campaign. In the official guideline Understanding Landing Page experience there is the clear information about the role of landing page.
There are a lot of other effective way to increase traffic with little cost that you can take advantage of, to name a few:
The mistake of many store owner and even marketer is that they go for advertising and website first. In fact, we need to understand the customer, who are they, what they need, what their demand is, where to find them.... What I try to say is that you need to deeply research before going for ads! I just read this article about how to drive quality traffic to your Shopify store with low cost (google search: low cost traffic for shopify store) and would love to share with you. It's all about analyzing customers and create good content.
