Product added to Cart

When I see on main page that product has been added to Cart how do I tell if the cart is working properly and/or if the client was having issues checking out? My site has been up for about a year now and I have had this off and on but not sure how to remedy this.

Maybe try it out first? I guess the only way to check is to run through the motion and just see.
