SEO and Link building

Amazing site, but what's next?

Your website is amazing, full of information with inspiring, unique and absorbing content. Your onsite SEO is optimized, and the Mr. Google and the big boys know what your site is about and are able to crawl your website seamlessly.

But what's next?

Well, two things: Link Building and Social Media.

Google loves links, it was love at first site. ( pun intended )

Every link Google that sees is like a poll. For example, let's say that Forbes was interviewing one of our talented designers at Flagship design and the subject was best SEO Companies and in the interview there is a link to the Flagship Design website -  Google Bots will see that link and say:

"Wow! Forbes is a very reputable, popular site, with millions of readers. We reckon these readers will follow this link. If the Flagship Design website was a poorly built website, with a bad quality and rubbish content, these Forbes readers would be angry and have a bad user experience with Forbes. So therefore, that must mean Forbes only links to the best reputable websites with good user experience for the readers. This website must be of the highest quality, this would look good in search results and the kind our searchers love to find."

And before you know it, not only will you get lots of website views from interested  following your link from the article, your search rankings will also go up for your keywords terms.

These are exactly the sorts of links that Flagship Design build: links that are relevant, highly analysed, viable and according to our clients description '' ubertastic! ''.  We look at link building as an important part of PR campaign. We thoroughly analyse and study before we start every link building campaign, looking up industry competitors, researching target consumers and also your business. We then gather all of this data and identify the best possible online destinations for your links. We have partnered with some reputable Magazines, blogs and website to ensure the best  quality back links. We will also post to other Articles, popular Blogs, guest post on Online Magazines, Newspapers, Forums and Websites.

Who is the Big Bad Link?

There some bad guys trying to trick search engines with their links; these links do not provide any positive user experience nor are they there for people to follow in any sort of way.

These Links are normally from spammy comment on blogs and forums and generated from Link Farms and Link Networks,  they are often not relevant using automatic directory and article submissions and also bad quality paid links.

This sort Link Building in the SEO world is known as spam. This sort of method provided quick and easy results in the past  (although Flagship Design always did things the proper way - Sparta style) but these days it will not only get you into trouble, but you will run the risk Google saying pfft to you site and end up getting penalties or delisted.

Link building is a delicate and very important part of a SEO campaign,

For reference - multiple links to the same domain on the same page especially with the same anchor text is not good SEO, might be worth cutting down on that a little, for SEO reasons and because it can come across as a little too self promotional!

How about using different domain name variations to point to one site.. Like having MyPleasureBox.com as the default and using domains like MyFunBox.com , MyFunChest.com etc.. would that help or hurt SEO?

@Lora Regarding to the first post:

So if I post check out my website at http://www.MyPleasureBox.com on this many times and say please click and and check it out I will get ranked higher?

No you should not, this is spamming and search engines do not like that. Instead, post relevant topics to appropriate forums, social networks would be a good habit to adopt.

How about using different domain name variations to point to one site.. Like having MyPleasureBox.com as the default and using domains like MyFunBox.com , MyFunChest.com etc.. would that help or hurt SEO?

There is no harm to own multiple websites ( unless there is a negative history associated with them ) but I would focus all of your seo efforts onto one domain - like mentioned before, just keep things relevant and not spammy!

Hi Lora,

Depends what the purpose for the domains are but using multiple domains to boost SEO is a tricky strategy.

But whatever you do, make sure you 301 redirect your multiple urls to your main site otherwise you will get duplicate content.

I would suggest you focus link building on your main url, there is no point in seo-ing multiple links -  that would just dilute your efforts, let your main url get all the credit for the links!

Perhaps my memory is a bit foggy, but I distinctively remember there being rules about keeping business solicitations to the Jobs section of the forums.

If you just want to provide advice and are not trying to get someone one-on-one to pitch services, why not just post the advice here for everyone to benefit from?

“Our forefathers had civilization inside themselves, the wild outside. We live in the civilization they created, but within us the wilderness still lingers. What they dreamed, we live, and what they lived, we dream.” -T.K. Whipple

It acts as if it was one domain still. So pointing links to five different domains and then pointing those to another site would be like you were pointing all thsoe links to one site.

This is not a good thing for SEO. (Plus 301s have a habit of 'losing' backlinks, so you could be losing out even more.

Totally agree with Oliver, using multiple links for SEO marketing is tricky and i wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of other ways to optimize your site!

Thank you very much for the feedback. One more question.

I have a site with all my products. Does Shopify offer a solution that would let me mirror my site with all the content and make a second site so i have to just keep track of one DB with my products and serve up multiple sites with different domains?

Thanks again

Making multiple sites with the same content is another bad idea.  Duplicate content it not a good thing.
