Shopify logging GA data multiple times for one order

I have code in the 'additional scripts' section of the Buy Button that sends GA ecommerce data to my GA account.

The description above the box where you enter those scripts says the code will run only on the order status page of the checkout.

This is not the case; the code runs on multiple pages in the checkout process, logging incomplete, duplicate data.

Can someone from Shopify with some technical knowledge please address this? I've asked multple times and never receive real answers.
