Hello everyone. I am having a shopify store and https://www.winknod.com/sitemap.xml is my parent sitemap url
when I am submitting this to Google Console, not getting any error but not getting all child urls of sitemap.
So I submitted all child urls separately in Google search console, getting the message couldn't fetch
So I tried to figure out what was the issue? & connect with chat support person. Support person said that that's not a correct url for pages and given me the new url for pages
This is the link they given me for pages - https://www.winknod.com/sitemap_pages.xml
& above url ir fetched in Google console , So I told support guy to change this new url with old one means from https://www.winknod.com/sitemap_pages_1.xml to https://www.winknod.com/sitemap_pages.xml
got a reply that " I do not have access to these files, so I cannot perform any changes. "
I found the urls in both sitemap are same and both sitemaps are identical
So how can I change that url ?
Any advice?
Sitemaps are automatically generated by Shopify and there is no way you can adjust the names or the content of the files.
I am also puzzled by the Google support representatives response. Both URLs are valid.
Visely, That answer was not of google support person it was by shopify support person. See the attached screen shot of conversation.
Please provide me the solution to change the url in parent sitemap
Hi Rohit,
You can just delete sitemap_pages_1.xml can work as both are having same URLs. You can ask Jiri H. to do that.
thanks, but I already reach to Jiri for this but he said that
" I do not have access to these files, so I cannot perform any changes. The best course of action is to contact Google support and have them review why the file, which clearly exists, is not being indexed."
Have you submitted the urls within the sitemap.xml or just that top level sitemap.xml url? You should only be submitted the top level and not the urls within.
Hi Jason,
I was facing the indexing problem for some URL so it's a simple way to submit those URL's in Google search console & am doing the same thing. So instead of submitting the separate URL in URL inspection I submitted the sitemap that time I faced this issue. Please provide me the solution to change the Child sitemap URL in Parent sitemap.
In my opinion, you need to resubmit the sitemap to Google Webmaster.
And to reiterate one more time, there is no way you can change the URL of the sitemap nor you can change the content. It is all handled on Shopify side.
Wow, some dude Jiří from CZ actually made it all the way to Shopify...? B/c I think it's unlikely they're outsourcing this.
Off-topic but had to ponder.
