Hi, does anyone know what the 'Thank You' page URL should be? I did a test purchase to get the below URL:
https://checkout.shopify.com/4095881/checkouts/d07556757126de23b37629ffb3c866d1/thank_you
Understand that 4095881 is my store number, and the last bit is the order # meaning it would change every time, so what should I be using exactly?
Hey Veronica!
My name's Alex - I'm a Guru here with Shopify.
What URL you use in your Goals depends on which checkout version you're using. If you're using the Legacy checkout, it should be /checkout/orders/show. If you're using the new Responsive Checkout, it should be /checkout/thank_you.
Here's our full document on setting up tracking for checkouts: http://docs.shopify.com/support/other/general-information/google-analytics-goals-and-funnels#example...

Have a good day!

Hi there
I am having the same issue here.
I don't know where to find the specific URLs for my checkout funnel journey.
I also don't know whether I'm using Legacy checkout or Responsive checkout - how do I check this?
I'm trying to set up a funnel in Google Analytics and am really struggling as don't know the specific URLS for each stage in the journey or where to find this information.
Please help!
Thanks Kelly
Hi there
I hope you can help.
I'm trying to set up a Goal in Google Analytics and i'm not sure where to find the specific URLs for each stage in my order/checkout journey.
I also don't know how to find out if I am using Legacy or Responsive checkout as mentioned above. I'm assuming that depending on the checkout you're using, you use a standard set of checkout URLS for each stage of the journey.
I've followed the info here: https://docs.shopify.com/support/other/general-information/google-analytics-goals-and-funnels#exampl...
which tells you how to set up the thank you page - which is the final page but what if I want to add the stages before that like biling address etc.
Attached is what I've done so far in GA - is this correct ? Can I add other stages in - I assume these would go before as the thank you page is the last page?
Please help!

Old thread but still a common question I get asked.
The folder structure does not change if you are on Shopify Plus.
With some regular expression rules, this would match your thank you page:
^.*www\.YOURSTOREDOMAIN\.com\/THIS IS YOUR STORE ID\/checkouts\/.*\/thank_you$
So if the original poster was on Plus, their thank you page URL would be:
https://www.yourstoredomain.com/4095881/checkouts/d07556757126de23b37629ffb3c866d1/thank_you
Hi,
is this thank you URL the same used for PayPal Auto Return URL ie /checkout/thank_you
Yes Jon, the thank you URL remains the same regardless of your payment method.
For anyone that wants to setup a funnel in analytics, just copy my Google Goal template that is pre-made. Here it is https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/template?uid=Bm5VOIyTT26LoBjnB2NewQ
Taken from my guide: https://www.digitaldarts.com.au/google-analytics-and-shopify-for-splendid-data
Hi Josh, I used your Goal and "verified" the Goal in GA and it showed I would have had 0% conversions based on what I set up. Since I've had sales in the past week I assume I have the wrong code. Please see screenshot...any idea why it's not working for me?
Hi Joshua,
Thanks for your help on this thread. However, I also am not able to verify my goal with your Google Goal Template.
I use the Shopify Buy Button, meaning my website and check out are on different domians. Would this casue a problem? Does cross domain tracking need to be set up?
The existing guides and documentation are very helpful and I followed them to the letter. But apparently GA can't track checkout as a goal. I suspect that this has something to do with cross domain tracking as the checkout actually takes place at checkout.shopify.com. We have no problem tracking "add to cart" (/cart), which is still on our own domain.
Would appreciate Shopify providing a trouble shooting guide.
The documentation and guides are very helpful and I followed them to the letter. But the /thank-you page is apparently not tracked by GA as that goal shows 0 while we have sales all the time.
I suspect this failure has something to do with cross domain tracking. We operate under our own domain but the transaction takes place at checkout.shopify.com.
We have no problem tracking "add to cart" since it takes place on our own domain.
It'd be nice if Shopify could provide a trouble-shooting guide so that we can look into possible problem areas.
Hi, I have the same struggle - found no solution to make Google Analytics track purchases with Buy Button of shopify. Simply because when a customer presses 'cart' or ' checkout' - it all goes to 'mystore.myshopify.com', while Google is tracking only 'mydomain.com'.
If anyone coul help with setting this up - I would be very grateful.
Hi Joshua. I'm trying to implement your solution. With our store it looks like the domain is a bit different. For example it is for a recent transaction:
https://checkout.shopify.com/9845508/checkouts/9369bbf3bb8992fc388bbdeb596049df/thank_you
So, using the logic I understood from your reply I entered as the Goal URL in Analytics:
https://checkout.shopify.com/9845508/checkouts/.*/thank_you because I understand the first number is our shop ID and the second is the transaction ID which changes. From your code I understood we could use: .* to include any variable?
But Google Analytics still says there's no eligible goals when I verify, despite several sales. Would really appreciate any help to let me know where it's going wrong...
Thanks in advance!
Rob
This queastion can never be dinfinitively answered by Shopify. IT's a headache
Is this answered anywhere? The expert left us hanging with none working examples and the template he suggest didnt work. Is this outdated? Anyone have a link to the answers? Thanks
