Unable to link site to Google Merchant

I opened my online store yesterday, and am trying to link it to Google Merchant.

Before I can start advertising with Google, I need to verify the domain.

As requested, I uploaded the Google html file to Shopify, which all went fine. However, when I went to click the "verify link" button in Google Merchant, it keeps telling me that the webpage they're looking for cannot be found, and that no file has been uploaded.

What to do?!

Hi Ingrid!

Stephanie here from Shopify's Guru Team!

Instead of uploading the file under Settings > Files, you will have to actually take that snippet of code and enter it into your theme.liquid 🙂

Click on Online store > Themes > '...' Edit HTML / CSS to find your theme.liquid. Enter the code under the first <head> tag.

It looks like this:

Here is our doc that will also walk you through the steps -

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, or would like us to look into this specifically for you, feel free to reach out to our support here.
