Updating site

We ran a site for many years using dreamweaver html which has now been replaced with our shopify site.

Question relates to ways to improve google ranking and indexing. Previous site ranked well and parts of it are still appearing in the google index even after a month of being replaced. 

At this stage the new site does not appear to be very well indexed. What steps could be taken to improve this. We have reports from google console which appears to show some product pages reporting "Alternate page with proper canonical tag"
