How can I modify my store's currency settings?

1 0 0

Hello Support,

I noticed my store does not accept payments in other currencies at checkout, but only the default currency. I contacted my payment gateway provider and they referred me to my shop currency settings.

I'm unable to change the currency settings of my store as the message says 'To change your store currency, contact Shopify support'. Hence, the reason for this request.

Kindly assist look into it urgently as it is affecting my business when customers try to buy in currencies like USD and GBP.

I await your swift response as I am on standby for further information if needed.

Hello, @UdenMart!

Absolutely! To change your store's currency, please click here to reach out to our live support. They will be able to temporarily unlock this feature for you, allowing you to update the currency as needed. Our team here on the Shopify Community can help with general support questions, but we don't have access to your account and therefore can't help with account changes.

Before proceeding with the currency change, it's important to be aware of potential impacts. Please take a moment to review the following four points:

1. Reporting: With changing between currencies, our reporting doesn't factor in the difference between currencies. So if you had $500 USD processed, that would show as $500 in reports. If next day you switch to CAD, the report would still read as $500 for the previous reports. Since $1 CAD is not equal to $1 USD, and the reports would be incorrect going forward.

2. Product Pricing: Since the dollar amount between currencies is not the same, a product price's value, could mean something different if currency is adjusted and impact their margins. Ex – $20 CAD, is not equal to $20 USD. Refunds processed after a currency change will also be affected by the currency change.

3Apps: Some apps may have limitations when it comes to changing the selling currency. To understand how changing the selling currency will affect your apps, it is advisable to contact the respective app partner for clarification before proceeding.

4. Gift Cards: Gift cards with remaining balances in the previous selling currency will no longer be valid once the store's selling currency is changed.
