Asking for an email address before checkout - to do with who referred you

I was wondering if and how it was possible to enable a feature where you ask the question before checkout "if you've been referred - please put the email address of who referred you", and then a tab for them to write this in, so that we can collect it for our manual process of crediting the person who referred. 

Is this a special feature to add?

Love the idea! have you checked the App Store? also check out your google analytics, while it won't tell you who referred, it will tell you what site they came from. For example, google, social, yahoo, bing, direct etc. it will give you a great idea of where to allocate marketing dollars.
