Why can't users remove items from cart using plus and minus symbols?

Hi,

Users are unable to remove items from their shopping cart by using the "plus" & "minus" symbols. Instead, they have to highlight the amount, replace it with zero, then hit the enter/return key. Assistance would be appreciated.  This occurs on Chrome, Firefox, & Brave.
