Can we customize the status of the order after it is placed via the POS app

We have noticed that all orders that are placed through the POS app automatically set the order to the "Fulfilled" status. We have a process that checks for all "Unfulfilled" orders so if possible we would like the POS orders to follow that same format. 

 

As a side note, are the POS orders marked in anyway outside of our regular ecommerce orders?
