Why are barcodes not updating correctly in my inventory?

Hi, we have a bricks and mortar store and an on line store for the same business. Each morning we up date the sales from the previous day from our bricks and mortar store to Shopify to make quantities correct on our on line store.   We have been entering the barcode of the product in the inventory field to make the changes. In the last week there seems to have been a change in the software which has made this difficult. We have been entering the barcode but it keeps deleting numbers, and the layout is different, we have to press the search button every time, we used to be able to adjust a product quantity, save it and then continue to enter the new barcode.  Has there been a software change or should we be doing it a different way. We have been making our adjustments this way for 2 years.   We would appreciate your help.
